MCU maker Holtek expects 10-20% revenues growth in 2010

Source :Digitimes          update : 2010-03-05

Holtek Semiconductor's revenues are expected to grow 10-20% in 2010 driven by strong sales of microcontroller units (MCUs) in the China market, according to company president, Gordon Gau. Total MCU shipments in 2010 are likely to top 300 million units, representing an on-year growth of 25%, and flash-type MCU shipments may double from six million units of 2009, said Gau.

Holtek's first-quarter revenues will stay flat compared with fourth-quarter 2009, during which the company generated revenues of NT$820 million (US$25.65 million). The company has seen order visibility extend to May and expects revenues to grow sequentially in the second quarter and hit the highest-ever level in the third quarter for 2010, Gau noted.

The company sees growing potentials on analog, display, and MCU related products in 2010. ICs for LED backlight, LCD driver and vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) accounted for 25% of Holtek's 2009 revenues. Revenues share of standard MCUs was 45%.

Revenues generated from the China market reached 50% in 2009, with the remaining 25% from Taiwan and another 25% from Japan, Korea, Europe and the US, added Gau.
